The goal of this CNY 950 million project in Shanghai, China, was to construct two energy-efficient, high-rise commercial office buildings
that combine neoclassic and modern design in a high annex style, along with supporting facilities and a two-level underground car park.
BIM technology was implemented throughout the planning, design, computational analysis, and virtual construction, which improved overall
AECOsim Building Designer, MicroStation, Bentley Navigator, Project Wise, and Bentley Raceway and Cable Management provided a
seamless and collaborative BIM working environment that enabled multiple disciplines to design collaboratively, share project information,
and make informed decisions throughout the project lifecycle. The product integration avoided repetition and data loss in the information
transfer process and maximized the benefits of 3D design.
The scope of this EUR 5,000 project encompassed a 3D laser scan survey of three sides of the College of Industrial Engineers of Barcelona
building in order to generate CAD drawings. Laser-scanner technology and the implementation of Bentley Pointools allowed Captae to
perform the work in record time with minimum disruption to pedestrians and traffic.
The ability to read and import multiple laser-scan and point-cloud formats – along with an ability to work with both DGN and DWG
formats – reduced production time significantly. The high performance levels afforded by Bentley Pointools has increased Captae’s overall
competitiveness and resulted in its being eligible for a greater number of national and international projects.
