This USD 60 million project involved installation of two offshore wind turbine generators off the Virginia coast. As one of the first wind
turbine generator installations in the United States, the project will demonstrate the cost savings associated with innovative foundations
and sub-structures. The designers also applied the first fully coupled hydrodynamic and aerodynamic analysis for a commercial offshore
The ability to use SACS to post-process data from DNV GL’s bladed wind turbine design software allowed Keystone Engineering to use the
analyses performed by the wind turbine generator designers (Alstom) to design foundations and support-structures with no rework. Using
multiple cores for simulations in the SACS wind turbine module reduced analysis time by more than 50 percent, resulting in fewer man-hours billed to the client.

Nasr Phase I Development Project
Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company is developing the Nasr oil field off the coast of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, in two phases, with
the USD 450 million Nasr Phase 1 Development Project under EPCC contract to Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T). L&T-Valdel Engineering Limited
provided engineering design for the WH T-1 and WH T-2 wellhead platforms, manifold tower (MF T), and bridge between WH T-1 and MF T.
The 2,550 metric ton WH T-2 deck presented an engineering challenge. All pre-service and in-service conditions were modeled and analyzed
in SACS, resulting in an economical and workable design. Steel weight for the deck and facilities it accommodated were optimized. SACS
also performed the pancake lift analysis to optimize crane usage. On-time delivery of 10 months allowed the owner to initiate installation on
schedule, resulting in no downtime due to inclement weather.
