The Dufour 500 Grand Large is a flagship yacht designed by Felci Yacht Design for Dufour Yacht, builder and distributor of sailing yachts
throughout the world. An innovative concept drove design of the 500, which features a raised saloon deck house. The slight elevation
provided the advantages of light and large interiors, while keeping the style and aesthetic typical of Dufour yachts.
MAXSURF provided software tools for all phases of the vessel design and analysis process. Fast and homogeneous information exchange
allowed the design team to analyze numerous solutions while respecting the project budget and schedule. Simulations and photorealistic
renderings enabled Dufour Yacht to visualize what Felci Yacht Design had in mind. With every detail analyzed and optimized, the result was
a brand-worthy vessel.
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) was required to requalify 50 offshore platforms off the west coast of India to ensure they
are fit for purpose and able to operate past the 25-year design life. Engineers India Limited had two years to complete the process, which
involved assessing structural strength in light of any modifications, additional loads, and underwater dents or damages.
SACS was used to model each platform and perform in-place analysis, pushover analysis, fatigue analysis, and linear elastic analysis. The
SACS collapse module accurately assessed the reserve strength ratio, including member plasticity and plastic hinge formation for each
load factor. The rapid analysis enabled Engineers India to complete the project on schedule and meet ONGC’s goal of continuing platform
operations without losing production.
