Mark Hansford | Editor, New Civil Engineer
Mark Hansford is editor of New Civil Engineer (NCE), a global brand that delivers award-winning content online, on tablet,
in print, and through live events such as awards, conferences, roundtables, and webinars. As editor, he is spearheading the
transformation of NCE magazine from a print-based magazine to a digital publication.
Hansford has 20 years of experience in civil engineering as a practicing, qualified engineer, and 13 years of experience
as a journalist with NCE, winning numerous awards. His background includes five years serving as content/deputy editor
responsible for providing news coverage for the weekly magazine and the daily news service. Hansford received the IBP News
Reporter of the Year in 2003 and the Construction/Infrastructure Writer of the Year in 2013.
Keith Hayward | Editor, Water21
Keith Hayward is the editor of Water21, the magazine of the International Water Association – a leading global network of
water sector professionals. He has edited Water21 since the association was created by the merger of two long-standing
water sector organizations in 1999. Hayward is also editor of Water Utility Management International and the IWA Yearbook,
and has worked on and edited other water-sector publications. He holds a master’s degree in international water law.
Tom Freyberg | Chief Editor, WWi, Penn Well International
Tom Freyberg, an experienced environmental journalist at Penn Well International, has held positions across a variety of
business-to-business titles. In addition, he has had articles and comments published in national newspapers, including The
Times and The Guardian, and on CNN. Freyberg has been invited to speak at several international conferences, including the
World Conference of Science Journalists in Helsinki, Finland. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Exeter University
and completed his PMA journalism training in London. Freyberg joined Penn Well in January 2010.
Gerry George C. Eng. MIET | International Editor, Transmission and Distribution World
Gerry George has been the international editor of Transmission and Distribution World, a magazine targeting senior staff in
power delivery utilities, since 1996. A chartered engineer and member of the Institution of Engineering Technology prior to this
editorial position, he spent more than 30 years in the U.K. electricity supply industry. George joined an energy consultancy,
British Power International, in 1996 where he has been engaged on a number of major contracts for transmission and
distribution utilities in the Philippines, Dubai, Bahrain, and Abu Dhabi.
