Western Power Distribution | Exeter, United Kingdom
Development of Bentley Map Mobile for Field Operations
Western Power Distribution (WPD) is the electricity distribution network operator for more than 7. 8 million customers in the U.K.’s
Midlands, South West, and Wales. WPD’s network consists of 220,000 kilometers of overhead lines and underground cables, and 185,000
substations. This GBP 1.3 million proof-of-concept pilot project brought Bentley Map Mobile to some 2,300 field operators using
Bentley Professional Services developed mobile app technology to distribute and record utility asset data, delivering functionality
comparable to that available with Bentley Navigator on a laptop. Field updates are sent to WPD headquarters for map revision, and up
to 5,000 asset changes per week are loaded to i-models for distribution to the field via Wi-Fi. This mobile technology will improve project
delivery time and reduce the risk of errors.
Wodociągi i Kanalizacja Sp. z o.o. | Dzierżoniów, Poland
Construction of Information System
Wodociągi i Kanalizacja Sp. z o.o. is a water and sewer company serving the county of Dzierżoniów, Poland, including six municipalities with
approximately 500 kilometers of water networks, 220 kilometers of sewerage systems, 10 water treatment stations, and three sewage
treatment plants. This PLN 100,000 project created a complete database of the water supply and sewerage network.
The project team scanned and calibrated about 700 basic maps and incorporated hundreds of surveying inventories, inspections, and other
existing information into a single database. Bentley Map and Bentley View provided the interface to interact with water and sewer data
from various sources. Visualizations and network modeling are now possible with this well-constructed system of spatial information,
making the working environment of the company transparent, economical, and innovative.
