Bentley sisIMS Goes Mobile!
The Sindelfingen Department of Public Works (Stadtwerke Sindelfingen GmbH), Baden-Württemberg, Germany, used Bentley technology to
supply geodata to mobile terminals. As a result, all business departments can access geodata without having to use special interfaces. This
improved the effectiveness of work processes in the department’s network operations.
The third-party software, gis2app, requests Web map services from Bentley sisIMS, then visualizes the network data on a mobile terminal
supported by the Blackberry Enterprise Mobility Management platform. Combining Bentley sisIMS with the Open Geospatial Consortium-conforming sisNE T data model enabled a fast implementation. Using Bentley products across the board allowed the department to stay
within budget. The initial investment of EUR 15,000 was repaid within months of implementation through reduced time and travel expenses.
REMONDIS Arzamas Service LLC (RAS) invested RUB 3 million in the creation of a geoinformation system for the water supply and
sanitation system serving the city of Arzamas and Arzamas district in the Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia. The goals of this project
included reducing costs, improving service, increasing system reliability, and mapping the municipal water and sewer networks.
Bentley Map provided fast and accurate geospatial data creation, maintenance, and analysis. The software not only quickly and effectively
enabled teams to work with a GIS, but also made it possible to export data in i-models for offline work so employees can use GIS in the
field. RAS was also able to download data in shapefiles and transfer the shapefiles to WaterGEMS for hydraulic modeling of the Arzamas
municipal water supply.
