Egis India performed the feasibility study and prepared the detailed project report for the INR 3. 65 billion upgrade and improvement of
the route from Katihar, Bihar, to Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh, India. This work package involved realigning and expanding approximately 700
kilometers of highway from one to two lanes, as well as associated improvements to bridges, culverts, drainage, road geometry,
The project passes through congested areas with poor road geometry. Egis determined how to improve the geometry to comply with
specified standards yet with a minimum of land acquisition and settlement. The improvements will enhance the living standard and open
new business opportunities for local people in this lower-income area. Using the full potential of Bentley software reduced the project
delivery time and cost.
Sadbhav Engineering Limited, a leading infrastructure company of India, retained Consulting Engineers Group Ltd. to perform detailed
engineering design of the Gomati-to-Udaipur section (kilometer 177/00 to kilometer 260/100) of NH 8 in Rajasthan, India. The INR 9.1 billion
project is being delivered on a design-build-finance-operate-transfer basis.
Located in hilly, urban terrain, the project required an elevated corridor, a tunnel, a bypass, and cut-and-fill. The project team applied Bentley
MXROAD tools to determine alignments that will cause the least disturbance to the natural topography and surrounding forest. This also
optimized land acquisition and the amount of cutting and filling required. Bentley software reduced project delivery time and costs, as well
as enhanced safety.
