In this USD 519 million project, Energoprojekt Gliwice and Abener Energia teamed to design the Stalowa Wola power plant being constructed
near an existing coal power plant in Stalowa Wola, approximately 200 kilometers from Warsaw, Poland. The new facility generates both heat
and power: hot water delivered to the heating system of Stalowa Wola and process steam supplied to neighboring industrial plants.
To design the largest combined cycle plant in Poland, the teams used Project Wise for multidiscipline work sharing. The i-model format
integrated the data and enabled virtual meetings of dispersed project teams. Using i-models together with Bentley PlantSpace significantly
shortened design time by detecting and eliminating collisions in the design stage, which had a direct impact on the erection phase of
The goal of this project was to implement a technical document management system at EDPR Renewables for the entire EDPR network of
more than 200 facilities in 11 countries as well as via the Web from outside the EDPR network. With centralized document management,
project data would be accessible quickly and efficiently thanks to its bandwidth optimization systems, a challenge for EDPR given its locations
in so many countries.
EDPR deployed Project Wise to unify document management, which reduced the time needed to locate information, the amount of physical
media to store information, and the cost of bandwidth. Project Wise allows information to be retained indefinitely, thereby avoiding regulatory
compliance issues and it provides complete traceability of the information lifecycle for complex engineering projects.
