This EUR 50 million modernization project in San Donato Milanese, Italy, encompassed the redevelopment of four existing modular turbo
turbines and the installation of a new medium-sized aeronautic gas turbine, two combustion engines in cogeneration, and three auxiliary
boilers. Enipower tasked Demont to design the plant that will deliver high-efficiency cogeneration and more flexible operations.
Using AutoPIPE, AutoPLAN T, MicroStation, Bentley Navigator, ProSteel, and S TAAD.Pro, the design team created 3D models loaded with
structure, piping, cable paths, and instrumentation data, which then enabled the detection of collisions among existing equipment, in
particular between piping and structures. This eliminated piping length corrections during prefabrication, which guaranteed cost savings in
terms of assembly time reduction.

108 MW Gas-based Combined Cycle Power Project
Given the scarcity of power and the long lead time in delivery of new gas turbines, it was decided to procure an existing gas-based power plant
that could be imported into India to be refurbished and commissioned expeditiously. The efficiency of the combined cycle plant will be better
than the turbine cycle or steam cycle plant by an order of 45 to 50 percent.
The superior efficiency of combined cycle power plants over conventional reheat cycle plants not only conserves fossil fuels, but also drastically
reduces the emissions and waste per unit of electricity generated. For this project, DESEIN leveraged the interoperability of MicroStation,
AutoPLANT, ProSteel, and Bentley speedikon to save 7 to 10 percent in engineering time and 2 percent in project delivery costs.
