The challenge of this EUR 43 million project was the 1.5-year time line to which EPC Telemenia had to adhere. Adding to the complexity, the
project was an extension of an existing power plant in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, which is located 1, 200 kilometers from any seaport.
I. Y.Genesis Advanced Engineering was contracted to design the whole power plant except for the electrical/control/monitoring designs.
The remoteness of the site meant that material deliveries typically took three months or more. Using AutoPIPE, AutoPLANT, MicroStation,
Bentley Navigator, Bentley OpenPlant, ProSteel, and STAAD.Pro on the project to simultaneously design and procure the steel structures
as well as the piping systems, I. Y.Genesis Advanced Engineering was able to streamline delivery times down to two months, saving the
project USD 150,000 per month in reduced construction time.

For this USD 58 million power plant project in Iraq, the remote location of the site and the extreme weather conditions required all of
the materials – piping, structural elements, and steel – to be built in Malaysia, transported in containers by sea, road, and rail, and then
assembled on site. This also reduced the amount of work on site, and enabled the project to be completed in a mere five months.
Using AutoPLANT, Bentley Navigator, ProSteel, and STAAD.Pro, Kavin Engineering And Services Private Limited extracted drawings
directly from the 3D models and reviewed them using Bentley Navigator to ensure that the models were clash free. This ensured that the
drawings issued to Malaysia for construction were more accurate, resulting in the company completing the project ahead of schedule and
increasing profit by USD 1 million. Interoperability among applications reduced engineering time by 30 to 40 percent.
