The National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRiP) is an initiative of the national and state governments of India and the Indian
automotive industry to create state-of-the-art testing, validation, and R&D infrastructure. For this INR 190 million project on the outskirts of Chennai,
Zamil Steel Buildings India designed a facility that will be certified to conduct performance testing for a full range of automobiles.
The structure consists of a 75-meter, clear-span, semi-circular building connected to a 70-meter, clear-span, hip-roof building with no columns in
between the areas. STAAD.Pro was used to model the structure, analyze behavior, assign design parameters, and select appropriate optimized
sections. Optimizing the design using STAAD.Pro reduced the cost of the project and minimized the use of materials.
