located 160 miles north of Sydney, Australia, newcastle is a coal export port
where development is affected by underground coal mine operations. The
$70,000 civic precinct project explored surface development and underground
mining. The 3D model of the civic area within the central business district
helps with policy planning, identifies physical constraints, tests development
scenarios, and supports costing in line with a 10-year financial plan.

City of Newcastle
city precinct 3d Modeling
microStation and GeopAK enabled the team to construct a multifaceted
interactive 3D model of the surface and subsurface of the civic precinct. A
dedicated in-house team, in consultation with external stakeholders, carried
out the geo-referencing process in microStation. Data from current and
historical plans, aerial photography, and liDAr surveys was used to develop a
geospatially correct object-oriented 3D model.
The $1.25 million cadastral and GIS system (SIcyG) is a modernization project
for metepec, mexico, to update the municipality’s real estate information.
SIcyG integrates all geo-referenced data into a single mapping system to
provide transparency in the management, analysis, and exploitation of cadastral
information. It covers 70 square kilometers and provides 52 levels of information.

cadastral and geographic Information system
Developed in microStation and Bentley map, SYcyG addresses services
requested by citizens and allows information to be shared among various
municipal buildings via the Internet. The addition of previously undocumented
or undervalued properties resulted in a potential tax revenue increase of 22
percent for residential and 12 percent for commercial over the previous year.
