The Fulton Street Transit center under construction in new York city integrates
five existing stations and a national historic landmark into one streamlined
transport hub. The hub will increase property values, business opportunities,
and subway network efficiency. Arup is lead consultant for the $1.4 billion
project, providing overall planning, project management, design, engineering,
and construction administration advice to m TA new York city Transit.
The project involved 2D drawing production for more than 3,500 drawings.
Arup constructed a multidisciplinary 3D building information model using
microStation, Structural modeler, Bentley Building mechanical Systems,
and Bentley Building electrical Systems, which provided clash detection and
resolution, and validated 2D documentation prior to construction. contractors
used the models to coordinate shop/fabrication models and drawings.
The new-build campus at robert Gordon University in Scotland consolidates all
the university departments in one riverside setting. The 24,000-square-meter
building is comprised of a north-facing teaching wing and river-facing staff wing
that wrap around a library tower and teaching drum to create an atrium and
refectory. The sloped site posed a particular challenge for building arrangement.

BDp used Bentley Architecture and Structural modeler to produce the
architectural general arrangement drawings, scoping drawings, and schedules.
With both the structural engineer and the mechanical and electrical contractor
working with building information models as well, the project team produced a
fully coordinated construction model. The 3D model became the primary tool for
discussion during coordination meetings.
