ostiense railway overpass
The $21 million bridge over the metro and rome-ostia railway tracks in rome,
Italy, will provide direct passage for vehicles and pedestrians between the
neighborhoods of Garbatella and ostiense. The 160-meter overpass will host a
sidewalk-lined double carriageway with three lanes, and upon completion will
become an urban landmark.
The design features a tripod-shaped reticular arch that rises 42 meters over
the railroad and will sustain the central deck for 125 meters with steel ropes.
Solidus used proSteel to determine the exact weight of the steel— 2,800
tons—which made it possible to estimate the prevailing cost of the work. As a
result, the team was able to formulate the best bid and win the tender.

design and construction of combined Flyover at Bharatmata–lalbaug Junctions
The $35 million Bharatmata-lalbaug flyover on B r Ambedkar road in mumbai,
India, will improve traffic congestion near the crowded lalbaug market area.
The four-lane, 2.45-kilometer elevated road allows motorists to avoid seven
vehicular and two pedestrian signals. Traffic volume on the flyover is expected
to increase from 52,500 to 62,700 vehicles per day by 2021.
The flyover comprises a twin-cell box-girder superstructure, single-pier/pier
cap substructure, and pile foundations. STUp consultants used S TAAD.pro for
longitudinal and transverse analysis of the box girder, which was constructed
of precast, prestressed segmental concrete. one challenge was transporting
the segments from the casting yard through heavy traffic congestion to the
construction site 12 kilometers away.
