water supply distribution system for lucknow city
migration from adjoining villages grew the population of lucknow, India, to
5. 3 million people. Haphazard expansion of the water distribution system left
many areas without a continuous supply of clean potable water. Uttar pradesh
Jalnigam retained rudrabhishek enterprises to design a 1,900-kilometer water
supply distribution network for three districts in lucknow’s 2,700-acre core.
rudrabhishek enterprises surveyed the existing distribution network and
then used WaterGemS to design a layout that used both existing and new
systems to deliver a 24x7 water supply. The design proved to meet present and
future demand. Darwin Designer, included in WaterGemS, analyzed the most
economical network, taking into consideration the cost of pipe. WaterGemS
reduced design time by nearly 85 percent.
optimization of Vila santista Booster
Franco da Rocha, Brazil
Sabesp provides water and sewage services to the 364 municipalities in the
state of São paulo, Brazil. Intermittent water supply in the growing area of
Vila Santista was attributed to the undersized Vila Santista booster. Sabesp
assessed demand and identified a primary network for optimization. Two
scenarios were considered: expanding the current booster capacity or dividing
the supply area and installing a second booster.
WaterGemS made it possible to perform a comparative analysis of the two
scenarios. By considering the best performance in terms of operational and energy
efficiency, Sabesp chose the scenario involving installation of a second booster.
This solution provided enhanced service to the area’s 20,000 inhabitants.
