stand-Alone water Main replacement program
In Toronto, canada, water mains that are up to 135 years old contribute to
about 1,300 breaks each year. A $135 million program to replace water mains
throughout the city targeted those with the highest break rates. As program
manager, r.V. Anderson Associates was responsible for design, inspection, and
construction administration of 40 kilometers of water mains, 7 kilometers of
sanitary sewers, and 4 kilometers of storm sewers.
Dense urban infrastructure and underground utilities made the replacement
program challenging. Using microStation and Inroads, the firm modeled
locations, identified conflicts, and determined alignments. ensuring cAD file
conformity and design quality, the team expedited the project to qualify for
government funding. The software enabled r.V. Anderson to prepare 420
drawings within nine months.

Uttar pradesh Jal nigam provides sewerage services to lucknow, which has a
population of 2. 1 million spread over 25,000 acres. The sewer system covered
only 30 percent of that area and much of it was dysfunctional. To expand and
improve service, two sewage treatment plants ( 115 and 160 million liters per

the network, check invert levels, and reroute the network as required. A custom
macro presented design output to Uttar pradesh Jal nigam and changes were
synchronized in SewercAD, which reduced design time by nearly 85 percent.
