north Karnataka Urban sector Investment program
As part of the north Karnataka Urban Sector Investment program, DHV India
prepared a detailed project report to provide an uninterrupted, guaranteed
water supply for Bidar. DVH India proposed remodeling the network and
augmenting the water supply to meet 2041 design criteria. The $13.3 million in
improvements included a bulk water transmission system from a guaranteed
source and a new treatment plant.
DHV India used WaterGemS to model the existing distribution system and
eliminate inequities by rezoning some areas and adding new zones to other
areas. The hydraulic design utilized the existing system except when pipelines
were incapable of achieving the design flow and pressure. Using WaterGemS,
DHV India designed 22 kilometers of pure water feeder main and 250 kilometers
of water distribution network in about two months.

IZsU water Infrastructure in pearl of Aegean
Known as the pearl of the Aegean, Izmir is the third largest city in Turkey
with a population of 4 million. IZSU, the authority responsible for water and
wastewater services, manages water infrastructure aligned with Izmir’s
5,000-kilometer road network. IZSU undertook a $470,000 project to convert
paper data into digital format, build an intelligent water network in a centralized
oracle Spatial database, and publish the system to all stakeholders.
microStation, Bentley map, and Geo Web publisher were deployed for this
project. Address data already stored in an ArcGIS database was integrated
with the new system using Bentley ArcGIS connector. With 21 branch offices
able to access water network data via the Internet, IZSU reduced man-hours by
approximately 20 percent.
