A shale gas drilling facility at Horn river Basin in northern British columbia,
canada, eliminated the use of fresh surface water for hydraulic fracture
operations by processing deep, non-potable sour water from the Debolt
reservoir. The first of its kind, the Debolt Water Treatment plant processes
16,000 cubic meters per day of sour water and recycles flowback water in the
equinox engineering designed the $40 million plant to operate in the isolated
location with harsh winter conditions. AutoplAn T performed all aspects of 3D
modeling and generation of 2D drawing deliverables for mechanical, electrical,
structural, and piping. Unique materials required for severe conditions were
loaded into the database for material procurement and isometric generation.
The models were critical to the interface with the existing facility.
Ge Water & process Technologies developed a series of reverse-osmosis water
purification systems to treat a wide variety of feed water for municipalities.
To ensure code compliance, Ge Water performed comprehensive analysis of
various load conditions on the reverse-osmosis skid frame and high-pressure
piping systems. As a result, the product achieved nSF Standard 61 certification
and FDA compliance.

Municipal series – ro systems
AutopIpe and S TAAD.pro were used for analyses and design of the product,
including checking interferences and finalizing pipe routing. Seamless software
integration contributed to a shortened product qualification process, saving
60 percent of the analysis and design cycle time. The software also helped to
coordinate with design teams on final assembly, fabrication, and production and
so enabled the timely market launch of the product.
