INNOVATION IN uTILITy TRANSmISSION AND DISTRIBuTION NETwORkS
Fa. J. Brandl konstruktionsbüro
The Fa. J. Brandl design office was contracted to prepare as-built drawings
for an administration building/low-voltage network section. The existing files
were in AutocAD. The as-built drawings were produced to the customer’s
specifications, and a customer-specific symbol library was implemented.
The AutocAD files were smoothly transferred to microStation due to the
program’s interoperability features. modifications were made as necessary to
meet specific requirements for parameter settings, colors, lines, and text, and
certain AutocAD symbols were replaced. microStation reduced total design
time by about 30 percent.
Network mapping Ltd
survey, Mapping, and Visualization of transmission networks
Jacksonville, Florida, united States
network mapping conducted an aerial survey of the Jacksonville electric
Authority transmission network. The survey map will support asset
management, inventory, condition and reliability verification, and regulatory
compliance. The $1 million project covered 685 miles with 122 circuits of up to
500 kilovolts. network mapping used a range of remote sensing instruments to
acquire spatial data and imagery.
microStation’s mix of cAD functions and specialized add-ons minimized
expenditures on other software packages. The cAD tools were used to draw
the transmission network layout, right-of-way corridor, and survey flight path.
liDAr image processing tools worked on top of microStation, enabling the
processing of more than 5 terabytes of data to be done in a single package.
microStation was used to output the data to the target system.
