large-scale district Heating preliminary development project
Italian utility company AeS Torino manages Torino’s gas distribution network
and the district heating network that supplies 60 percent of the territory
encompassing Torino and moncalieri. To extend the district heating network by
10 percent, AeS Torino evaluated the possibility of replacing centralized heating
systems with about 2,400 heat exchange substations.
AeS Torino manages the gas and heating networks with a GIS based on Bentley
map and Bentley Geospatial Server. The integrated system handled data for
the 15.2-square-kilometer project area. Bentley sisH YD enabled engineers to
analyze, design, and optimize the expanded network by integrating hydraulic
models, which reduced manual labor by 20 percent.
The Qingdao 660-kilovolt high-voltage direct current converter station is the
first segment of the ningdong to Shangdong direct-current transmission project
that will transmit 4,000 megawatts over a distance of 1,335 kilometers. The
co-designers are the State nuclear electric power planning Design and
research Institute, Beijing Wanglian HVDc engineering Technology co.,
and central Southern china electric power Design Institute.

Qingdao converter station
Bentley Substation was used to design the converter station and to calibrate
air clearances among electrical devices in the station’s complex, irregular
direct-current yard. Bentley Building mechanical Systems, Inroads, and
Structural modeler were also used. To meet the requirement for digital
handover, project data was submitted using Bentley i-models.
