Air separation plant
IIc Technologies designed an $87 million air separation plant in Hyderabad,
India. The plant included more than 50 equipment foundations, each requiring
five to 10 iterations to perform analysis. Using STAAD.pro and STAAD.
foundation drastically reduced the design cycle time so that the entire project
was completed within six months.
The project included the design and detailing of the entire civil and structural
activities of the air separation plant, which had been outsourced to IIc to reduce
construction time. one of the critical areas was the design of pile foundations
for heavy equipment, a specialized area that needs to address with all loading
conditions, especially in earthquake-prone areas.

Isabela Bio-ethanol and cogeneration project
located in the philippine province of Isabela, the $11 million bio-ethanol and
cogeneration project involved design of the supporting structure for a boiler.
The structure supported a furnace, furnace economizer, air heater, bunker,
soot blower, and conveyor. Harsh environmental conditions were the main
challenge. The area is in seismic Zone 4, making it the most likely location for an
earthquake. In addition, wind velocity reaches 70 meters per second.
Isgec John Thompson designed the structure to withstand these natural
conditions using software for structural calculations, modeling, and analysis.
STAAD.pro saved time in the process of designing to the Uniform Building code
and Indian standard. proSteel saved time by reducing the number of revisions
due to early detection of clashes and interferences.
