The fire station under construction in the Kharghar node in navi mumbai, India,
will reduce fire hazards during natural disasters such as earthquakes. The
facility includes a parking bay, office, and officer quarters totaling 910 square
meters; firemen quarters totaling 990 square meters; and a smoke room and
drill tower totaling 150 square meters. last-minute changes to architectural
plans and staffing made meeting the project deadline a challenge.
city & Industrial Development corporation of maharashtra (cIDco) used
S TAAD.pro to analyze and design the fire station in accordance with Indian
standards. The software enabled cIDco to consider the behavior and effects of
loads on various members. The analysis minimized risk, reduced costs, avoided
human error, and shortened the time required to release structural drawings.
cIDco estimated total savings of 7 percent in man-hours.
