In this $20 million project, chuchawal royal Haskoning designed a special joint
for the roof truss to reduce the cost of the siding envelope and longitudinal
subtruss for the bracing truss system. When the height of the truss was reduced,
the center of gravity of truss was reduced as well. With superior stability, the
truss joints will not bend into connecting plates and provide a complete load
path. pure shear connection will also provide a more economic joint design.
chuchawal royal Haskoning found that STAAD.pro, STAAD.foundation, and
rAm connection were fast and featured intuitive graphical user interfaces.
The Bentley products enabled quick analysis and conformance with universal
building codes, providing powerful tools for design of this structural roof
system. The project cost was approximately 600 million Thai baht.
To help meet India’s growing demand for power, the Government of punjab
and larsen & Toubro (l&T) partnered to develop a 2x700 megawatt thermal
power station in rajpura. l&T is engineering, manufacturing, erecting,
and commissioning the supercritical boilers, and by adopting 3D modeling
techniques to perform integrated design and clash detection, l&T eliminated
interferences during the engineering stage to ensure smooth execution.

2x700 Mw rajpura thermal power plant
Designing the asymmetric boiler structure was complicated by the need
to ensure safety in the event of a severe earthquake. l&T analyzed and
designed the structure for various critical load combinations and seismic
forces using STAAD.pro. Integration with 3D detailing software supported
extraction of fabrication drawings. This process reduced man-hours and
produced error-free output.
