The Inter-American Development Bank is funding rehabilitation, improvement,
and expansion of highways belonging to the Santa catarina State road
network in Brazil. engevix engenharia was responsible for the 18-mile
highway connecting Angelina and major Gercino. This $47 million project is
characterized by winding horizontal geometry with small radius reverse curves.

to deploy tasks, templates, standards, and workflows as well as integrate
disciplines. project Wise allowed engineers to work faster, and exchanging
products via Bentley’s portfolio Balancing reduced licensing costs by 54 percent
and improved productivity by 25 percent.
Following the disastrous Great east Japan earthquake, Kokusai Kogyo deployed
a mobile mapping system (mmS) to survey damage in a 350 kilometer area
covering three municipalities. The mmS was equipped with liDAr along with
360-degree and stereo cameras. The system integrated global positioning,
inertial measurement, and distance measurement. This technology allowed
Kokusai Kogyo to contribute to the urgent recovery and reconstruction initiatives.

Figuring the disaster status From MMs
Using mmS technology in conjunction with data management in microStation
allowed the project team to rapidly detect and assess damage. The mmS liDAr
point cloud was used to locate areas affected by liquefaction. Using microStation
and TerraScan, the team managed, filtered, and analyzed the data. Inroads was
used to create digital terrain models at 30-meter intervals. Automated liDAr
data processing was seven times faster than manual methods.
