INNOVATION IN RAIL AND TRANSIT
Atkins Denmark A/S
langaa-struer track renewal
The $1.86 billion langaa-Struer track renewal project will renew the entire
102.4-kilometer line connecting eastern and Western Jutland in Denmark. The
renewal will eliminate speed restrictions due to railway conditions and prepare
for a speed increase from 120 to 160 kilometers per hour. rail net Denmark
commissioned Atkins to outline and perform detailed design for 20 kilometers of
track renewal, 50 kilometers of sleeper rehabilitation, and related works.
Before design began, Atkins created a terrain model in Bentley rail Track based
on hardcopy drawings of bridges, track, and terrain. To meet client requirement
for transverse profiles showing both existing and future conditions, Atkins
used Bentley rail Track to generate cross sections at 20-meter and 10-meter
intervals. project Wise managed all track design data, which facilitated
collaboration and optimized time and resources.

sirte-Benghazi railway line
Ras Lanuf, Libya
The $3.8 billion Sirte-Benghazi railway line under construction in libya will
close a gap in the maghreb passenger rail corridor from morocco to libya.
The project will improve public and freight transportation as well as connect
remote locations to metropolitan areas. Designed for trains traveling up to 250
kilometers per hour, the rail line is 556 kilometers long with 23 stations.
Bernard Ingenieure developed the final design, including stations, service
roads, and crossing streets. Documentation included track cross sections,
routing solutions, longitudinal sections, and cross sections at every 50 meters.
microStation, Bentley rail Track, and Inroads were used to automatically
generate the cross sections, integrate track and road layouts, and display the
layout plan. presetting parameters enabled a high degree of automation.
