INNOVATION IN muLTImEDIA
tran phu nha trang city
Trang City, Vietnam
The $1 million residential project at 96 Tran phu Street in nha Trang, Vietnam,
faces the nha Trang coastline and is backed by mountains. The vision for this
apartment complex was to create a contemporary landmark with extensive
views and sustainable design features. The building facades were a key
element in achieving these goals. The solution provided natural illumination for
the apartments while minimizing shadows on neighboring developments.
Group GSA developed the conceptual design using microStation’s live nesting
of reference files to create facades that were easily manipulated. A high level
of detail was maintained in the paneling system while multiple options were
rendered and evaluated for light and shade impacts. Use of the luxology
rendering engine avoided the expense of retaining a 3D contractor.

3d Modeling – communication through Visualization
India’s move toward supercritical technology for power generation often
requires placing large-scale units in buildings with constrained space. larsen
& Toubro limited (l&T) and Sargent & lundy formed a joint venture team to
deliver engineering solutions for supercritical power plants. collaboration
with project stakeholders called for a 3D environment that could be used for
visualization and communication.
The joint venture team implemented microStation and Bentley navigator for
plant model integration. The customized microStation platform and luxology
rendering engine are used to generate photorealistic visualizations of design
concepts. Interactive 3D pDFs embedded in 2D drawings help eliminate
questions on site about complex foundations, piping systems, and equipment.
These tools contribute to a 10 percent reduction in engineering time.
