Infotech Enterprises, Ltd.
Integrated gas and electric data Mapping system
hyderabad, India
Infotech enterprises was retained to build a user-friendly, configurable system
to meet utilities data mapping requirements. The mapping process involved
making raster maps as references and drawing the network manually in
microStation. The scope of work included generic utilities data model creation,
and microStation and Bentley map application program interface customization.
The customized application program interfaces enabled Infotech enterprises
to build a well-organized, automated system that uses an object-oriented
approach to data mapping. The rule-based system automates network tracing,
connectivity tracing, conductor placement, and other processes. Developed
at a cost of $135,000, the system improved overall productivity by 25 percent
initially, and as users gained experience, by an additional 20 percent.

geospatial data collection platform
malaysia
established in 1885, the Department of Survey and mapping malaysia
(JUpem) is one of the oldest agencies in the country that carries out
survey and mapping. JUpem has continually expanded its use of the latest
technology to accelerate routine activities. This $10 million project deployed
geospatial data collection technology to create a 3D data set―including
recognizable buildings―for all of malaysia.
JUpem selected microStation as the platform for data capture technologies
including liDAr, photogrammetry, and radar mapping. over a seven-year
period, the Data Acquisition Section used digital aerial photogrammetry
to create an accurate and comprehensive microStation 3D digital map of
malaysia’s topography. microStation GeoGraphics defined coordinate systems
for each DGn file.
