Main terminal Building lcct
perunding rekamaju was retained to design the roof supporting structure for
the main terminal building of a $9.1 million low-cost carriage terminal (lcc T)
in Sepang, malaysia. The complicated structure was comprised of a steel
truss system supported by pyramid-shaped steel pipe columns and resting on
a reinforced concrete column-and-beam-frame. The goal was an economical
design that met structural and seismic performance standards.
STAAD.pro was chosen for modeling, analysis, and design of the integrated
structure, which included 21,400 nodes and 61,800 beams. Analysis of
member groupings reduced member types to 34 primary load cases and 35
load combination cases. In-depth study and innovative engineering reduced
the client’s estimated tonnage quantity from 2,000 to 1,900 tons. S TAAD.pro
helped to produce an optimized design in less time.

The $9.3 million expansion of christ the redeemer catholic church in Houston,
Texas, added a 27,000-square-foot sanctuary adjacent to an existing worship
space. For an open floor plan with clear views of the sanctuary platform, the
nave had to be column-free. pinnacle Structural engineers achieved this goal
with a primary roof structural system consisting of glulam beam framing and
four structural steel trusses crisscrossing the nave in pairs.
rAm elements enabled the firm to review dozens of potential steel truss
designs under various loading combinations, and determine the most cost-effective and elegant design. The software also allowed the primary gravity and
lateral structure to be designed in a single model. coordination with the steel
fabricator early in design accelerated production of structural steel fabrication
drawings by roughly two months.
