Gujarat narmada Valley Fertilizers company awarded a $220 million turnkey
project to larsen & Toubro (l&T) chemical plants and l&T engineering
mumbai to set up a 1, 120 metric tons per day ammonia-equivalent, natural
gas-based synthesis gas generation plant in Bharuch, India. microStation and
its embedded luxology rendering engine provided superior visualization of the
project for both l&T and Gujarat narmada Valley Fertilizers company.

Larsen & Toubro Limited
Ammonia synthesis gas generation project
Bharuch, India
This project was the first of its kind undertaken by l&T. Using microStation
and microStation-based applications enabled l&T to make the most of
minimal resources. Bentley navigator and Bentley i-models were used to
integrate information from different disciplines and for design reviews. The
photorealistic images incorporated realistic light effects and terrains extracted
from Google earth.

sr 20 sharpes corner Vicinity Interchange
Anacortes, washington, united States
State route 20 is the only direct land access to Whidbey Island in Washington.
The Sr 20 spur provides primary access to Anacortes and ferry services. These
routes intersect at Sharpes corner, where more than 30,000 vehicles per
day cause heavy congestion and chance of collisions. The Washington State
Department of Transportation planned a $23.2 million interchange to move
traffic faster and more safely.
A value-engineering study brought stakeholders together to select the most
cost-effective alternative from among roughly 50 options. Visualizations of the
final two alternatives – a Texas-T and a modified roundabout – were used for
public presentations. microStation enabled the team to create 3D models based
on 2D preliminary designs, match them with aerial photographs, and render and
composite the images into photorealistic visualizations.
