Based in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Matec Engineering traditionally focused on construction
phase projects using plans conceived by clients. To increase productivity and
work quality, Matec deployed building information modeling (BIM) for critical
analysis, error detection, cost optimization, and coordination of resources.
Bentley Architecture, Bentley Building Mechanical Systems, Bentley Building
Electrical Systems, Bentley Interference Manager, and Bentley Navigator were
customized to integrate with other systems and nomenclatures. Project teams
redesigned projects in 3D and delivered critical analysis reports as 3D PDFs.
Individual projects have saved up to 40 percent of time, 30 percent of materials,
and thousands of dollars.
The goal of this $50,000 project was to optimize an air conditioning system on
a cruise ship. The challenge was to fit the large amount of pipe and ductwork
within the constrained space while satisfying engineering requirements,
maintaining safety standards, and assuring accessibility.
The use of Bentley products such as PlantSpace enabled NAV TEC to efficiently
and effectively coordinate the project in Ancona, Italy. The software saved time
and reduced waste materials.
