The Central New York Biotechnology Research Center in Syracuse, N. Y.,
contains high-tech labs and bioprocess modules for off-campus research
and development. The facility is expected to attain LEED Gold certification.
Modeling of air handling options for laboratories, which required 100 percent
outside air, resulted in selection of a dual-path modified system with fan wall
technology. Strict lighting levels and controls were achieved with 90.3 percent
Bentley’s building information modeling was leveraged to coordinate three
design firms working on different platforms due to its ability to import and
export a range of file types. M/E Engineering’s computational fluid dynamics
group used Bentley Building Mechanical Systems to design the air systems.
Using Bentley Building Electrical Systems was the key to meeting New York
State Energy Research and Development Authority funding criteria.

Fisher Street Car Park
Advocated by the Cabramatta Council and funded by the Australian
Commonwealth Nation Building program, the new multistory car park on Fisher
Street in Cabramatta, Australia, will provide much needed parking for visitors to
the town center. Designed on a tight budget, the efficient 5,000-square-meter
building maximizes operational use of the site while minimizing both the use of
materials during construction and ongoing energy consumption.
MaterialLAB Architecture & Design used Bentley Architecture throughout
the project to model all details, structure, finishes, and fittings as well as
complete all documentation. Traditional 2D drawings were extracted to create
tender documentation, and Luxology was employed to create views that were
photomatched with site photos for presentation purposes. MicroStation and
