Menara Hap Seng is a landmark, 21-story office building in the heart of Kuala
Lumpur’s Golden Triangle. Constructed in the 1970s, the building recently
underwent a $55 million upgrade and renovation to meet the requirements of
modern, premium corporate space. The new design focused on architectural
potential, site context, building image, ground-level usage, and the environment.
The building was 50 percent occupied during the renovation, so work had to
be carefully planned to not disrupt the business operations of those tenants.
Bentley design software was used to design the plan and facilitate a tight
construction schedule including site coordination, closed monitoring, logistics
management, weekly forecasts, and accelerated information sharing across
Edmond Shipway LLP
Newark-on-Trent, United Kingdom
Edmond Shipway is converting an historic British manor house into a private
school for behaviorally challenged children, including new residential and service
buildings. The sensitive nature of the heritage site and the requirements for
working while students are in residence necessitated extensive coordination.
Edmond Shipway was commissioned for design of the mechanical and electrical
services installation within the main hall.
A primary goal for the project was compliance with the Energy Performance of
Buildings Directive, which required the use of carbon calculators and/or dynamic
simulation modeling tools. Hevacomp software was used to create building
energy models, run design calculations, and perform detailed energy analysis
using dynamic simulation, all of which saved a significant amount of time.
