This family home is located on a narrow street in Marks Point, on the northern
bank of a peninsula in Lake Macquariek, Australia. The project site is very
narrow and long, with short boundaries abutting the street and lake. The
proposal was to demolish the existing garage facing the street and design a
new garage and living space. Several design options were developed for a
The 3D modeling and visualization capabilities of Bentley Architecture
enabled efficient communication with the client as well as the local permitting
authorities. The $400,000 addition will expand the living space for a growing
family and create a private, protected courtyard area, maximizing the potential
of the small site. Curb appeal will be improved by the interesting architecture.
Merewether House 4
This $2.1 million single-family dwelling features a plunge pool with associated
decks and landscaping. The home includes four bedrooms; guest room; study;
formal living room; laundry; en suite; and open-plan living, dining, and kitchen
areas. The objective was to maximize the stunning site attributes while
providing the client with an energy-efficient, protected, and private dwelling.
One of the main drivers of the design was to create good cross-ventilation in
summer, with the main rooms open on at least two sides. All walls and roofs
will be insulated to prevent heat loss. Additionally, the external walls will utilize
an innovative system of ventilated facades. Bentley Architecture communicated
the design concept to the client and local permitting authority.
