KELAG Wärme has been involved in a major shift to the burning of a renewable
fuel—biomass—in the form of woodchip pellets. For this $20,000 project in
Villach, Austria, the company set a goal to easily manage, store, and leverage
GIS data cross-departmentally as well as to find a new, efficient, and time-saving way of managing a flood of digital photos.
Currently, all flow lines and build-in components are surveyed and documented
more efficiently with the use of Bentley sisNE T. In addition, use of the software
and its Bentley sisIMS component has allowed KELAG to realize an 80 percent
time savings for archiving and searching photos and to set a new standard for
sharing information with colleagues.
ProjectWise Optimized for Electric Utilities
Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States
Operating in eight Western and Midwestern states, Xcel Energy provides
energy-related products and services to 3.4 million electricity customers and
1.9 million natural gas customers. Xcel undertook a $1 million project to manage
and share engineering content with its widely distributed workforce.
Project Wise was integrated with all regional logic and back-office systems
and then deployed in all of Xcel’s operating regions. Project Wise Software
Development Kit resources were used to create unique business requirements
and other custom configurations to support federal compliance mandates. The
technology allows Xcel to centrally locate all engineering content and distribute
to project participants as needed wherever they are.
