Light detection and ranging (LiDAR) is a revolutionary aerial surveying
technology that enables data from large areas of land and sea to be captured
quickly and cost effectively. Blom Aerofilms provides LiDAR resources and
services from consultancy and data capture through to data processing and
LiDAR produces large data sets that need to be processed efficiently to allow
for interpretation. Blom uses MicroStation and MXROAD to perform these
functions. With the inclusion of a third-party add-on application, MicroStation
enables Blom to rapidly process and interpret vast amounts of LiDAR data,
saving approximately 30 hours of staff time per week.
95 Express Project
Miami, Florida, United States
The Florida Department of Transportation’s I- 95 Managed Lanes Project
awarded to the design-build-finance team of C3TS-MCM-FCC is a $138 million
project that will enhance mobility in Miami-Dade County, Fla. It commenced
with a pilot project to convert existing high-occupancy vehicle lanes on I- 95 into
limited-access managed lanes called the 95 Express.
The team leveraged MicroStation and GEOPAK to develop plans and design
documents for all roadway and bridge elements, including lane transitions,
pavement design, reconstruction of flyovers, widening of seven bridges,
substructure modifications on high-occupancy vehicle connector ramps, and
implementation of intelligent transportation system-related equipment.
