ISO 15926 is a standard for representing process plant lifecycle information that
will improve and simplify data exchange. Bayer Technology Services conducted
a proof-of-concept test of data integration using this standard. In a laboratory
environment, Bayer mapped its process and engineering data warehouse feed
against iRING—an open source software implementation of ISO 15926—and
pushed data to OpenPlant PowerPID.
ISO 15926 is the designated data model of the OpenPlant series, and the proof
of concept successfully established an interface between Bayer’s legacy
system and the P&ID solution, which is based on an open data model. This
interface enables the exchange of process studies, simulation results, P&IDs,
and equipment design data without developing a software-specific interface.

CCI Solvent Extraction Plant
The $2.5 million CCI Solvent Extraction Plant in Chennai, India, is designed for
the extraction of vegetable food oil from soybeans. The process uses hexane as a
solvent in a highly efficient carrousel extractor. Precise design of the absorption
tower has helped to limit the hexane solvent being exposed to the atmosphere.
This was the first time Chemical Construction International executed a live
project in a 3D environment. With a built-in library of equipment and piping
components, AutoPLAN T saved time on configuration and placement. The 3D
visualization also detected interferences well before construction.
