Peaking Plant for PPC Energy
The power grid in the Slovak Republic experiences periods of uneven power supply.
To overcome this challenge, new gas turbine-based peaking plants are being
installed throughout the grid. One plant being built in the capital city of Bratislava is
located within the densely packed environment of an existing gas-fired power
plant. This new peaking plant will generate 58 megawatt electrical units.
Because of the narrow confines around which the plant is being built, there
was a great need for detailed planning. Adato implemented MicroStation,
PlantSpace, and ProSteel for 3D modeling and collision detection. The software
ensured that the design conformed to the space constraints and reduced the
time necessary for producing project documentation

Mundra Port, India
The $25.6 million, 4,000 megawatt coal-fired plant located in Mundra Port will be
the most energy-efficient plant in India. To meet a three-month design schedule,
Desein chose to implement 3D modeling tools for the first time. A user familiar
with AutoPLANT led a team of five through design and 2D drawing extraction.
Isometric drawings were generated for client approval in less time, and design
standards for piping and cable tray fittings were enforced for the first time.
Clash detection and interference checks eliminated errors before construction,
saving time and money in the field. Overall, time savings was approximately 60
percent and quality improved drastically.
