INNOVATION IN OIL AND GAS
Compressor Station CS- 2 on right bank of Russia’s Ob River processes
associated oil gas from the central gathering station, booster pump stations,
and local processing facilities of the Priobskoye oil field. The compressed
and dried associated oil gas is then transported to the left bank to supply a
gas turbine power plant. Waste gas is transported to the Yuzhno-Balyk Gas
Processing Complex.
The complex design encompassed several connected facilities, requiring
specialists from various disciplines. MicroStation, TriForma, and PlantSpace
facilitated information exchange and allowed team members to work in parallel
to accelerate design while reducing errors. Collaboration among several groups
produced the 3D facility model that will be used throughout the facility’s service
life. Design costs for the facility were reduced by 25 to 30 percent.

Deisohexanization Block
Ufa, Russia
The challenge of the Deisohexanization Block project was to increase the
octane number of benzine and improve production safety. Difficulties included
synchronizing the work of a large team of specialists in different disciplines,
in different locations, on different networks, and using different plant
design systems.
The Ufa, Russia-based institute used a combination of Bentley products—
AutoPLANT, PlantSpace, and Project Wise—to enable different departments
(process, piping, mechanical, civil) to work in parallel online as well as to
integrate storage and archiving of 2D drawings and 3D models. The 3D models
accelerated design time, eliminated errors and collisions during engineering,
simplified management approvals, and optimized construction.
