INNOVATION IN COMMUNICATIONS NETWORKS
IMMCO, Inc.
Inside Plant Documentation/Data Validation
Los Angeles, California, United States
Time Warner Los Angeles, Calif., retained IMMCO to document its regional hub
sites. The challenge was to do so with accuracy, speed, and at reduced costs.
IMMCO had engineered its own data validation and data collection tools, which
enabled its team to collect data 30 percent faster than in previous efforts.
The ability to implement these process improvements has made IMMCO more
competitive in a tough economy.
Loading data off site saved additional time and expense for each project.
IMMCO used Bentley Fiber, Bentley Coax, and Bentley Inside Plant to allow
team members off-site access to documentation. The combination of highly
refined processes and tools reduced error rates in data collection to almost zero
and cut the project timelines by nearly 50 percent.
Time Warner Cable Wilmington, N.C., retained Precision Valley Communications
to document 2,402 miles of strand and 2,025 miles of radio frequency design,
including 182,634 addressed homes. The data will be added to a master grid for
the global mapping system, enabling the client to access accurate information
about customers from any where in the network, and track outages and vendor
equipment performance data.

The client provided 139 pages of documentation and one addendum outlining
rules and requirements for the project, along with an accurate land-based
coordinate system. With just five months to get up to speed and deliver,
Precision Valley Communications used MicroStation, Bentley Coax, and
Bentley Fiber to document the system with zero errors. The communications
product suite enabled the firm to meet the client’s standards for accuracy.
