INNOVATION IN CADASTRE AND LAND DEVELOPMENT
Ville de Grenoble
Build and Share GIS Data Across the Organization
The primary goal of this project was to rationalize the topographic database for
the city of Grenoble, France, and share this database with multiple users across
the municipality. One challenge was to implement a robust IT infrastructure
and retrieve legacy GIS and topographic databases without losing information.
Deployment of the new databases throughout the organization was critical
The project team used MicroStation, Geo Web Publisher, and Bentley Redline
to produce a GIS solution with 10-centimeter precision for network positioning
of water, gas, electricity, and district heating assets. The system allows better
management of the city’s networks for improved productivity, especially for new
roadwork, which results in decreased costs associated with project start-ups.
KASL Consulting Engineers has utilized MicroStation and Bentley software continuously
since 1990. We find the in-house use of the Bentley tools and file-sharing capabilities
with our design colleagues and clients to be a integral part of our success.
