CONNECTING PROJECT TEAMS
To Bridge a Gap–MicroStation–PDMS
The goal of this project was to find a faster, more cost-effective way to
share project information between MicroStation and its Aveva plant design
management system (PDMS). Using MicroStation Visual Basic, the designer
programmed a bridge between the two systems.
The investment was repaid on the first project to take advantage of this
connection, which saved more than 10,000 euros in workflow efficiencies.
Genova Urban Lab
Urban Lab is the technical organization for Genova, Italy, charged with planning
the city’s strategic urban development projects, including integrating current
and future infrastructure, harbor facilities, and historical and cultural heritage
landmarks. Municipality roundtables bring together international cultural and
architectural leaders to define guidelines for the Genova Municipality Urban
Plan according to sustainable growth principles.
Project teams follow these principles when land analysis and development
plans are investigated. In addition, the Urban Lab conducts feasibility studies
for strategic projects linked to the city’s master plan as well as a network
of smaller short-term intervention projects. MicroStation provides the
interoperability and integration required for collaborative teamwork.
