COMMUNICATING THROUGH VISUALIZATION
St. Agatha’s Primary School in Brisbane, Australia, has applied for funding
through the Queensland Catholic Education Commission to build a $2.5 million
Performing Arts Hall that will be used as a multi-functional building for both the
school and local community. The new facility will incorporate flexible teaching and
performing spaces for music and drama as well as combined assembly forums.
PL Architects used Bentley Architecture to design the facility and produce the
visualizations required to explain the concept to a diverse audience. The initial
design positioned the hall over a car park, with an open plaza at the first-floor
level where it attached to the school. Design changes were easily and quickly
incorporated into the 3D model, which was then used to produce 2D documents
for grant application and building estimates.

St. Oliver Plunkett School–New Classroom Building
Brisbane, Australia
Located in Queensland, Australia, St. Oliver Plunkett School needed to add
four new classrooms and two teaching support areas to an already congested
campus. PL Architects submitted a proposal to build over the existing stadium,
which would cause the least disruption both physically and operationally. The
$3 million addition would act as a bridge, linking classrooms at the first-floor
level and allowing ground-level activity to be unaffected.
To meet government grant application deadlines, the design process was
condensed, allowing less time to explain the proposal and win over the client.
Using Bentley Architecture, digital models of the school were prepared at
concept stage, enabling a visual analysis of the current layout prior to preparing
a design solution. The digital model enabled the firm to process quality images
throughout all phases of the design.
