Design of Concrete Hydraulic Structures
Serving the districts of Srinagar, Tehri Garhwal, and Pauri Garhwal in India,
this hydroelectric project included the analysis and design of a forebay intake
structure. The 20.75-meter-high concrete structure extends 81 meters across
the end of the forebay to support trash racks, bulkhead gates, and penstock
entry and transition. An anchor penstock bends downstream from the block.
To design the monolithic concrete structure, Energy Infratech conducted
stability and stress analyses as well as static analysis using S TAAD.Pro. The
entire structure was then modeled in S TAAD.Pro, which helped expedite
repetitive tasks and frequently updated design data. Since the design of the
structure has been optimized, it can be extended and adapted for use in future

kilovolts. The Froidchapelle project is a recent example of the use of STAAD.Pro
and ProSteel for the design and construction of steel structures.
3D Study Froidchapelle Wind Turbines Substation
The project team generated 3D models using MicroStation with the latest
dynamic views and rendering technology, which helped in the communication
and understanding of spaces, clearances, and interferences. The steel and
structural work was detailed with ProSteel. The round-tripping capability
between STAAD.Pro and ProSteel allowed the design to be simulated and
optimized as well as avoided redrawing whole structures for reuse.
