INNOVATION IN POWER GENERATION
Larsen & Toubro Ltd/Sargent & Lundy Limited
Panipat Naphtha Cracker Project
Panipat, India
The 192-megawatt captive cogeneration power plant at the Indian Oil
Corporation Panipat refinery complex will lay the foundation for a world-class
petrochemicals hub, which will engender significant industrial activity in the
coming years. The design team is a joint venture between Larsen & Toubro and
Sargent & Lundy in which Bentley provided the platform for integrating team
members deployed at three geographic locations.
MicroStation and Bentley Navigator built models of components and equipment
and enabled the effective management of design interfaces with equipment
suppliers/vendors, the owner, and various site contractors. Based on vendor
input, the project team was able to manage design changes and the associated
impact on the modeling work for piping, cable trays, and structure.
Rebis Russia
Steam and Gas Power Station of Mordovtsement
Mordovia, Russia
This power station will generate thermal and electric energy for a cement plant
in the Mordovia Republic’s Komsomolskyi settlement. During the design of this
complex project, Rebis Russia applied 3D design automation for the first time.
The digital models provided the team with intermediate results from any design
stage as well as avoided collisions during alignment of pipelines and ventilating
mines with a building part.
Several engineering departments worked in parallel to complete the design,
including heat and mechanical, water supply and water drain, ventilation and
air conditioning, and the building department. Project Wise and AutoPLANT
allowed Rebis Russia to improve project team productivity and reduce the
number of errors.
