Wyevale garden centre
Cardiff, United Kingdom
the goal of this project is to create a new generation of garden centers
throughout the United Kingdom with a design philosophy based on enhancing
the interconnecting sustainability of the environment, society, economy,
and natural resources. Balancing the needs of the development against
sustainability requirements and concerns of local residents, the innovative
designs will result in aesthetically pleasing proposals suited to sites.
The firm used MicroStation for the conceptual 3D modeling and MicroStation
PowerDraft for all production and color drawings, utilizing the ability to both
import and export to Google SketchUp and to create 3D PDF files. Previously,
the firm had edited the PDF files extensively in Adobe Photoshop but found
that unnecessary with the XM edition of MicroStation PowerDraft.

the goal of this project is to build a new stadium to host the 21st Summer
Deaflympics in Taipei in 2009. This will be the main stadium in Taipei, Taiwan,
and most domestic and international athletics games will be hosted there. The
stadium will seat 20,000 and include a standard race field, standard multipurpose
swimming pool, and a parking lot suitable for 350 cars and 800 motorcycles.
One of the prime benefits of using MicroStation is that it provides a 3D
collaboration platform. The firm’s structural and MEP departments use
MicroStation and related applications. Although the architectural department
is primarily still using AutoCAD, it can still use MicroStation as its 3D design
platform with no need to convert data from one format to another.
