Lafayette Hills at Hawthorne

Paulus, Sokolowski and Sartor (PS&S) was contracted to provide civil
engineering and site services for the development of concept designs, permit
documents, and construction documents for an upscale residential community
in Hawthorne, N.J. The development, known as Lafayette Hills, is located 16
miles from downtown Manhattan.
The topographically steep 10.6-acre site falls over 125 feet to a large
environmentally sensitive wetland area at the bottom of the slope. Significant
off-site sanitary sewer and water service improvements were needed.
Bentley’s Haestad Methods product line was extensively utilized to model the
water supply and distribution systems ( WaterCAD), sanitary sewer systems
(SewerCAD), and stormwater management systems (StormCAD).

the world’s first Ferrari-inspired theme amusement park is part of a new
leisure destination known as Yas Island, which will include a Formula 1 race
circuit, a large retail center, golf courses, and hotels. It forms part of the Abu
Dhabi expansion, a strategic hub located between Europe and Asia on the
northeast coast of the Arabian Peninsula.
Once the roof form had been finalized using parametric capabilities provided
by GenerativeComponents, the primary control wires were extracted to form
the basis of the underlying structural model. Bentley Structural allowed easy
remanipulation of the parametrically derived wireframe. The firm estimates
that by iterating designs, modeling time was reduced 25 percent and steel
tender costs were reduced by 11 percent.
