Henning Larsen Architects
East Harbour Project: Concert & Conference Centre
gathering inspiration from the northern lights and dramatic icelandic
landscape, this project in Reykjavik will stand out as a radiant sculpture
reflecting the sky and harbor as well as the vibrant life of the city. Apart from
the concert and congress center, the plan comprises a five-star hotel and
wellness center, fine arts academy, bank facility, cinema, new urban shopping
plaza, and a number of residential and commercial buildings along the fiord.
Together with Henning Larsen Architects, Olafur Eliasson designed the
façades of the building as a crystalline lattice of glass and steel using
MicroStation and Bentley Architecture. The 3D tools allowed the project team
to easily communicate the design to the client, quantity surveyors, engineers,
suppliers, and contractors.
