INNOVATION IN CADASTRE AND LAND DEVELOPMENT
using MicroStation geographics for Editing Oracle Spatial Data in a Mixed Environment
the city of Stockholm needed an application to enable editing of road
center lines stored in an Oracle Spatial road documentation system. The
Swedish company Tekis AB developed the product Lokal Vagdatabas for
administrating road-related information for local governments. The product
supports the Swedish national road standard as defined by the Swedish Road
Administration and its National Vagdatabas.
Using Lokal Vagdatabas, the road center lines can be created and edited from
different GIS clients. Each GIS client has a different approach for supporting
Oracle Spatial. For instance, some need additional tables, some parallel
schemas, and some extra data columns to support symbology, cartographic
text, and other workflows. Since the city of Stockholm uses MicroStation for
base mapping, a MicroStation GeoGraphics client was developed.

The Realization of Acoustic Maps for Capital City of Warsaw
the European union requires noise maps and plans to reduce noise. With this
project, Warsaw became the second city in Poland to complete strategic
other sources of noise. The project’s components included data acquisition,
storage in a database, making calculations, and opening the data to users
though a web server.
To measure urban noise, the firm needed to acquire various sources of
acoustic and nonacoustic data about roads, buildings and their functions,
building populations, aircraft operations, activity of industrial institutions, and
MicroStation GeoGraphics was chosen for its integrated engineering and mapping
applications on a single platform and solid database interface and spatial
analysis functionality. The noise maps were completed in three months.
