INNOVATION IN CADASTRE AND LAND DEVELOPMENT
the Power of One
North Palm Beach, Florida, United States
the goal of this Florida-based project was to demonstrate how one person can
create a profitable business using Bentley technology and innovation. This
was accomplished by using MicroStation and GEOPAK to create a new way of
looking at terrain.
The solution allows users to travel virtually to distant locations by
manipulating data using the software, saving hours of design, travel, and fuel
costs and helping the construction worker on site understand the final shape
of the terrain before actually beginning the physical work. Bentley solutions
allowed a one-person business to provide additional services that are typical
of companies with larger staffs and budgets.

Gdansk City Hall
European environmental legislation mandates that towns with more than
250,000 inhabitants develop acoustic maps to demonstrate that they are
complying with health and environmental directives. These maps describe
existing acoustic conditions in municipalities and initiate actions to reduce
noise. The town of Gdansk was the first municipality in Poland to announce
that it had completed the project.
The acoustic map was developed as an element of the municipal GIS using
MicroStation. Gdansk’s local municipal departments shared information on
geodesy, spatial planning, environmental protection, and population levels,
combining it with a 3D model of the city. To complete the acoustic mapping
process, various types of noise across Gdansk were analyzed.
