INNOVATION IN UTILITIES AND COMMUNICATIONS NETWORKS
Montgomery Watson Harza
One global Design team – the MWH transition into a Distributed Project Wise XM Environment
Chicago, Illinois, United States
Montgomery Watson Harza is creating a distributed global environment to
support its collaborative design and document management processes.
Project Wise provides consistent versions, databases, and hardware platforms
along with integrated design workflows and engineering content management
systems. Project challenges included differences in design process across the
global enterprise, I T infrastructure shortcomings in sharing large data files
globally, staffing issues, and where that work is done and when.
A global project team was formed by the four key business leaders to ensure
the project had a global focus and awareness across all regions. The team
was able to tap expertise in all of the necessary areas of the enterprise and
included business leaders, technology leaders, CAD leads, CAD technicians,
and assistants working collaboratively to ensure the success of the project.

Precision Valley Communications
Inside Plant Documentation (Time Warner Cable Maine)
Portland, Maine, United States
in 2007 Precision valley communications was awarded a contract by the time
Warner Cable Maine division to document all headend gear from the origin
of the RF and fiber data to the cable subscriber. The project scope entailed
nine hub sites throughout Time Warner Cable’s Maine division servicing
Cumberland and York Counties and the headend in Portland. Approximately
25,000 port connections were documented.
All equipment was built and mapped on site using Bentley Inside Plant on
portable laptops. Each completed hub site was then imported into Time
Warner Cable’s Maine division’s existing communications model created with
Bentley technology. Being able to document and input the data from each hub
site during the field data collection eliminated an enormous amount of time
